More than 300,000 HDB Households will get e-vouchers for energy and water efficiency appliance Purchase
A recent programme announced by the National Environment Agency (NEA) and water agency PUB on 28 Nov, where more than 300,000 HDB household for one, two or three-room flats will receive vouchers to help them on switching to more energy and water-efficient appliances.
Where eligible household will get 3 types of e-vouchers amounting of $225, which consist of $150 to buy a climate-friendly refrigerator, $50 for water-efficient shower fittings and $25 for led lights. As the $25 million Climate-Friendly household programme was first announced in March and rolled out on Saturday as a part of this year Clean and Green Singapore campaign.
In a media release, NEA has mentioned that this programme will help to reduce the current water and energy usage from HDB owners as refrigerators are the most energy-intensive household appliance and if more than 300,000 households are using more energy-efficient refrigerator it will provide a cost-saving of up to $160 million over the typical lifespan of the refrigerator which is equivalent to annual emissions from 110,000 cars. While for water shower with the water-efficient model they can save up to 1.1 million of water per day which each home’ annual water bill will drop by $10-$20 too. While for LED lights, the energy saved will be $3.7 million in annual energy cost.
As a part of the Clean and Green Singapore 2020, Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat also mentioned that the effort in keeping Singapore clean will help us all from Covid-19, dengue cases and another infectious disease, in which r Heng planted three Magnolia champaca trees, together with Minister for National Development Desmond Lee, Minister for Sustainability and the Environment Grace Fu and North East District Mayor Desmond Choo.
Eligible households can apply for the vouchers here. Vouchers are valid until Dec 31, 2023, and more information available on the Clean and Green Singapore website.
