No Year-End Bonus For S’pore Civil Servant in 2020 due to Covid-19 Pandemic
The government in consultation with the public sector unions has decided that there will be no year-end Annual Variable Component (AVC) payout for the civil servants this year due to the light of the challenging moments in economic conditions caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, which as announced in a press release on 27 November 2020.
However, the one-time payment of $1,200 will be provided for lower-wage civil servants and the government will also continue to pay the Non-Pensionable Annual Allowance of the 1 month (13th-month bonus) to all civil servants.
Although this might be bad news if we look back on the current condition, it is really hard for our government to provide extra funds as all funds are reserve to provides better overall to all Singaporean, especially those who are in need of cash urgency at the moment.
