Hundreds Appear at Canberra CC to collect the TraceTogether Token on the first day of availability
On the first day of the TraceTogether token distribution, where over hundreds of people showed up on bright and early morning at Canberra Community Club on 27th November 2020. The video was captured by a netizen who is among one of the 100 people who are in the queue for the token collection.
Where the token collection is available from 10 am to 6 pm. And as noticed from the images, the queue was mostly senior citizen and currently, TraceTogether token collection is restricted to residents’ constituency community centres only, as a resident are no longer able to collect their tokens at community centres outside of their own constituencies.
The TraceTogether programme is an effort aimed to improve the Singapore’s contract tracing efforts and it has been made available or collection since 14 September with free of charge, however, it is not mandatory to collect the TraceTogether token but it will be issued to anyone who wants one. However, in future, the TraceTogether token and app to do SafeEntry check-in at a certain venue with large groups will soon be compulsory.
So perhaps this is why these seniors groups are eagerly collecting these token as eventually we are all required to collect it for a safer future environment to battle against the current pandemic.
