NTUC FairPrice Extend Plastic Bag Charges For Another Year After Having Positive Customer Response
NTUC FairPrice supermarkets and convenience stores, after a year-long of exercising plastic bag charges at 25 stores which in-result of 15.6 million plastic bags saved and saw 7.8 million customers bring your own bag transactions which now they will extend this positive exercise to another year ahead starting from 12th November. As customer responses are giving positive feedback on this exercise.
Plastic bags after this will cost the same which is S$0.20 and S$0.10 per transaction at the supermarkets (FairPrice, FairPrice Finest, FairPrice Xtra) and convenience stores (Cheers, FairPrice Xpress) respectively. Plus around S$600,000 was raised from these plastic bag charges and will be donated towards supporting environmental and community causes by FairPrice.
The “No Plastic Bag” initiative is a part of FairPrice Plastic Bag Management program which aim to reduce the use of the plastic bag and encouraging behavioral change in customers which majority of the customer were supportive of the plastic bag charge. Therefore, let us all continue to support using lesser plastic bags in the future to save the planet earth from plastic pollutions.
