16-yo Save Old Uncle Who Fell Down By Calming His Nerves Before Paramedics Arrives
Sometimes when we are in the public places, we might come to encounter some sudden incident that will require some special skills to attends to the emergency incident. On Wednesday ( 19 Aug), a grassroots leader in Eunos, Mr. Norizam Baharon shared stories about his brother, Aniq who was a Temasek Secondary School student who was part of his school’s NCDCC put his skills to good use when he saved an elderly man in his 90s who had fallen down.
According to the incident that day, an elderly auntie suddenly rush over to them in sudden and asking for help as her husband, 90 who has fall down and bleeding heavily at Block 270, Tampines Street 21. Sensing the despair emergency, they 2 rush over to the unit and saw the uncle were already on the floor and blood were around him.
Aniq, despite his young age, took control of the situation using his NCDCC skills and experience. The student first grabbed a piece of cloth and tied it around the uncle’s bleeding arm. This apparently exerted pressure on the wound and helped stem the loss of blood.
Together with Mr Norizam, Aniq later managed to lift the uncle and place him on his bed. Later, Aniq headed down to the void deck to guide the paramedics to the unit, saving precious time that might have been spent by the medics’ searching for the right lift lobby.
The old man was eventually brought to Changi General Hospital for further medical attention. Mr Norizam was generous with his praise, and lauded Aniq for his bravery and civic-mindedness throughout the life-saving episode.
