MOM Approval Not Require To Move Workers Out Of Cleared Dorm As New Covid-19 Case Found
As mostly workers’ dormitories have been cleared away from the virus and the recent Covid-19 case was found in a cleared room causing around 800 workers to be quarantine again. Despite this, employers who will be moving their workers in or out from this cleared room doesn’t require to seek for Ministry of Manpower (MOM) approval.
Hence, they only need to take these steps before moving the workers:
- They must check whether the workers are healthy and not on quarantine or Stay-Home Notice.
- Employers must send their workers for regular routine testing by booking appointments through the Swab Registration System of the Health Promotion Board
- Operators must update workers’ addresses in dorm nominal rolls, taking out departing workers and inserting new ones accordingly. The workers also must-have apps like TraceTogether on their smartphones before they can go to work.
With the newly arrived workers, they can also just fulfill at least 1 of the following criteria in order to enter the cleared dorms.
- Have tested negative for Covid-19 in the last 14 days
- Have recovered from Covid-19 in the past 180 days
- Be under regular routine testing or Active Surveillance Swab, and required by the Joint Taskforce or sectoral agencies to move.
New workers who don’t meet the above criteria will be transferred to the onboarding period where they will be staying in a separate room from the other workers until they are tested negative while if the operator can’t do this, they may not be housed in the dorm. This are the steps to safeguards the workers which are moving in and out of the dorms.
