S’porean man 60, Jailed For Molesting Female Jogger In Yishun After Watching Pornography
A 60-year-old Singaporean man molested and punched female jogging after watching pornography in his company vehicle back in May this year, the man Kannan Sukumaran was convicted on the charge or aggravated outrage of modesty in court on Tuesday (Aug 11).
According to the incident occurred on May 12, Kanna was working as a delivery driver at the time when he has parked his company van beside the main road along Yishun Ave 1 and as he was watching pornographic video he spotted the victim of 36-year-old woman who was jogging alone on the pavement and after being aroused by the sight of the victim, he then decided to approach her and he used his right arm to grab her across her chest and squeeze her breast.
The victim then attempt to resist Kanna and due to the struggle, he punched her on the left side of her chest once and as she falls on to the ground suffered a cut to her left elbow then Kannan told her “I want to F*** You!”. As the woman afraid of being raped, the woman tried to kick him away and shouted for help.
Another woman who was jogging nearby heard the victim cries and upon seeing passers-by, Kannan fled back to the van and drove off. Another jogger who manage to note down the van’s registration number and called the police.
He was sentenced to four-and-a-half years’ imprisonment, with an additional three months in lieu of caning, as men over the age of 50 cannot be caned. For aggravated outrage of modesty, he could have been imprisoned for between two and 10 years. For men under the age of 50, the sentence also comes with mandatory caning.
