4 Wet Markets To Stop NRIC-Based Entry On Weekdays Due To Queue Has Reduced

4 Wet Markets To Stop NRIC-Based Entry On Weekdays Due To Queue Has Reduced

Back in the Circuit Breaker period, we are well aware that in order to purchase item from supermarkets and wet markets due to getting crowded where you all will get entry based on your NRIC numbers. However, 4 popular wet markets have effectively reduced their numbers where this NRIC based entry will be scrapped off on Thu (13 Aug) so the shopper can now enter at any time they like but subjected to the usual capacity limits.

These 4 wet markets were:

  1. Geylang Serai Market
  2. Chong Pang Market (Blk 104 & 105, Yishun Ring Road)
  3. Marsiling Lane Market & Cooked Food Centre (Blk 20 & 21, Marsiling Lane)
  4. Jurong West 505 Market & Food Centre (Blk 505, Jurong West Street 52)

The National Environment Agency (NEA) mentioned this on the media statement on Tue (11 Aug) after a close observation of the queues outside these wet markets. The good news is that the NRIC based system has proved to work earlier and NEA hopes that this encourage the shopper to visit on weekdays instead of weekends.

Shoppers are advised to check the Space Out website to find out information about queues and crowd sizes pertaining to these wet markets.
