S’pore Kayakers Rescue Sea Turtle Due To Floating Belly Up And Sent It To NParks

During the good days for sea activities, it will be a common scene for some Singaporeans to go out and have a kayaking session. While a good netizen of kayakers, Syed and S.A who bumped into a Hawksbill sea turtle after noticing it’s floating with belly up in the waters.

Their rescue mission was documented in a Facebook post by Kayakasia too. The incident happens between Kusu and Lazarus islands where they spotted this lifeless turtle and when they are picking it up, they thought it was already dead but the surprised them the turtle was still breathing due to small movements.

They brought the sea turtle back to shore to let it rest and they notice the Hawksbill turtle can start to swim but swimming in circles and also unable to dive under the water, because of this, they decided to contact the National Parks Board (NParks) and arranged to hand over to them at Sentosa’s Tanjong Beach.

Later after the NParks made a check up on the turtle, they mentioned that the turtle is rather weak and skinny and has been sick for a while, and currently are undergoing health checks and treatments by the vets from S.E.A aquarium at Resorts World Sentosa. The turtle will be released back to the sea when it has fully recovered.

NParks advised members of the public who encounter a nesting or injured turtle, turtle tracks, or nests to call the NParks helpline at 1800-471-7300. They also instructed the public to keep a distance from them and keep all noise to a minimum.
