Town Council Alerted On Group of Youth Spotted Smoking and Play Without Face Mask
The Tampines Town Council with the earlier report due to some resident concerns over a group of more than 5 youth has been gathering and smoking while playing speak takraw at the deck area in Tampines on Block 737 Tampines Street 72.
The incident in ch the netizen said that he saw 8 teens smoking and playing speak takraw around 8 pm and all of them were without proper face mask. In response from the Tampines Town Council, they mentioned that smoking under the void deck is prohibited under the smoking act and they have notified the National Environment Agency on this matter while they will place educational advisories in the area to remind the public that they aren’t allowed to smoke in a common area.
“Members of the public can report cases where safe distancing is not observed via the OneService App under the dedicated ‘Safe Distancing’ category.
“The information provided will help the relevant agencies know where the ‘hotspots’ are that require further enforcement and patrolling action.
“We will continue to work closely with the relevant authorities on this matter.”
