Maserati Driver Drags Police Officer For 124 Meter Distance and Gets Lifetime Driving Ban
A Singaporean Maserati Driver, who allegedly dragged a traffic police offer for around 124 meters after an alleged attempt to escape. With nearly 3 years and several trial postponements later, the 36-year-old driver was sentenced to 4 years and 7 months in Jail on Thursday (28 Jul) and he was also issued a lifetime ban on driving.
According to a local news, Mr. Lee Cheng Yan was found guilty of 10 charges last year over this incident. Where during the incident, Mr. Lee didn’t stop and instead drove off with the officer hanging on after his uniform was caught in the driver’s car door. This happens for 124 meters and the car was driving around 80kmph. While the police officer eventually fell off and sustained injuries to his knee, back, and back.
In an earlier case, Mr. Lee denied he was involved in the accident and instead of that a friend name Kelvin was behind the wheel and the prosecution said that Mr. Lee was obviously lying and called his claims a fairytale. He was later on convicted 10 charges including voluntarily causing grievous hurt to a public servant and failing to stop after an accident and obstructing justice.
