7 Mistakes Which are Causing Mosquito Breeding At Home
With the past few months where the mosquito breeding and dengue have been exceeding over 15,500 cases this year alone. It might be a good idea to start looking for these mosquito breeding sites and take precautions on helping out to prevent the dengue outbreak. Here are some useful ideas on how to prevent and discovers these mosquito breeding sites.
1. Using floral scented products – these nice floral scents might provide good smell to us, but do you know that mosquitoes are also attracted to these smell too. So try to switch to peppermint or lemongrass oil is a good alternative.

2. Not covering Rubbish Bins With Lids – these rubbish bin can easily be filled with small water puddles and it will provide breeding groups for this mosquito.

3. Leaving your pet’s water bowl in open – these bowl of water if not regularly check and changed, it will certainly be the breeding ground for mosquitos.

5. Not putting down the toilet bowls lids or drainage traps – bathrooms are the easiest place for a mosquito to breed and making sure these undisturbed water are always covered or clean it regularly if not using it frequently are crucial steps too. Or what you can do is install an anti-mosquito valve ($3.25) on that drainage too.

6. Hanging wet laundry in the bathroom for too long – this humidity inside the bathroom will cause unwanted pests to hide in between your clothes.

Not capping bamboo pole holder when not in use – if you are living in an HDB unit, you will be familiar with bamboo pole holder that is meant for hanging laundry pole, and these can easily collect water on rainy days. So you can replace regular caps with automatic bamboo pole covers ($12.90). The flap at the front prevents water from entering at all times, and there’s a water drainage gap in case water does enter your bamboo pole holder.
