Founder Bak Kut Teh Since 1978 Might Gets Shut Down In 2 Months Time
A homegrown chain the Founder Bak Kut Teh which has been around since 1978 is a favorite makan place which many celebrities like Jay Chou, Chow Yun-Fat, Charmaine Seah, Eason Chan, and Jam Hsiao have visited but due to the Covid-19, it has been doing very bad business that the second-gen boss, Nigel Chua, 45 are asking helps on social media. As the situation gets tougher for another 2 more months, it might be the goodbye for this famous bak kut teh.
On his open letters, the mentioned that the business of 3 outlets has dropped over 85 percent for the past 5 months and now the business is kept alive simply by takeaway or deliveries. He even mentioned that he is seeking helps and supports to save their brand and the jobs of their employees and this great 42 years heritage.
This Bak Kut Teh was founded by Nigel’s Dad Chua Chwee Whatt, 75 a former pig farmer and bak kut teh lover who started his own BKT biz when he couldn’t find a good bowl of the satisfactory bowl. This impact due to the majority of tourists is unable to make trips out which are affecting their business badly. Particular in their flagship restaurant at Hotel Boss in Balestier.
