HDB and PUB Respond To Bedok Resident’s On Contaminated Water Supply
The Housing and Development Board (HDB) and PUB have recently received a complaints from a woman due to the water supply to her Bedok flat are being contaminated and affecting her family’s quality of life.
Geraldine Tang shared that she has been facing this issue since 2015 when she moved into her Design, Build and Sell Scheme (DBSS) flat at Belvia in Bedok Reservoir. Ms. Tang, who is in her early 60s shared the list of problems she is facing on her Facebook on July 4.
On her post, she shared a photo of the wall and floor where there will be waters moist developing out whenever their neighbour are taking a hot shower because the heat rises from below. Other than this, she also shared that there are bacteria in her tap water making it unusable and her family fear of skin and urinary infections from the contact with the water.
In response to her complaint, the PUB said they are attending to the resident’s feedback on the water issue since 2013, PUB also mentioned that they are aware of Ms Tang where her tap water is contaminated by bacteria especially when her night flushes the toilets and will make an investigation on this case.
However, after HDB and PUB have tested the water samples from her flat it showed that the water is safe for drinking and also there are no defects in the sewage systems or other areas that could cause the alleged foul smell within the flat. While the microbial growth within the flat are likely a result of the poor ventilation and excessive washing over time.
