Singtel’s User Phone Number Almost Get Hacked And Singtel Backend Close to Breached
With the smartphone user which is increasing nowadays, on recent news where one Singtel user, Dave Tai Wei Jie report on his Facebook on his encounter with a hacker who caused his Singtel phone number to be terminated. Tai learn that the hacked used a method called Sim Swap and these fraud has been increasing worldwide which can evolve into a method of stealing money as well.
Sim swapping is a type of hacks which after taking over the mobile number, the hacker can start to log to other accounts such as social media, email, and bank account which can be verified or linked to the mobile number.
Tai also mentioned that the way to prevent such incidents is to opt-in to only allow changes made to the contract or plan in-store and not over the phone, so that the hacker won’t be able to pretend to be the user to pull off any sim swap.
