Police Of Rank Sergeant 2, Pawned iPads Gets 7 Months Jail
A policewoman37-year-old who has misappropriated 2 police-iPad worth more than $900 in total and pawned them at a shop were sentenced on July 6 to serve a 7 months’ jail after she was convicted on the count of criminal breach of trust by a public servant.
Hemavathy, who is the rank of Sergeant 2, joining the Singapore Police Force (SPF) in 2005 and was deployed to the Marina Bay Neighbourhood Police Centre (NPC) in 2009. The Deputy Public Prosecutor Foo Shi Hao mentioned that in duties time, Hemavathy’s colleagues handed her 2 units of SPF-issued iPads which she misappropriated the devices on Dec 8 and pawned it for $300 at Jurong West mobile phone shop.
For criminal breach of trust as a public servant, Hemvathy could have been jailed for up to 20 years and fined.
