PAP’s Lee Bee Wah Retiring, Giving Way For Successor
Lee Bee Wah announced on 29 June that she will not be running in the coming General Election and she will be retiring from the politics. Lee, who is now 80-year-old said that it is time for her to give way for younger generations, who is Carrie Tan as her successor, who is the founder and executive director of Daughters of Tomorrow (DOT).
Lee has been serving Nee Soon GRC MP since 2011 and previously MP for Ang Mo Kio GRC from 2006. For the moment, she will still be assisting the group with the People’s Action Party (PAP) on Nee Soon GRC, while the Nee Soon GRC team will be led by Law Minister K Shanmugam.
Lee said that she is very glad that much younger candidate has become her successor and she is happy to share her experience and advice to several candidates including Tan, plus she is hoping that the new candidates will ask tough questions in Parliament in the future. Lee also mentioned that she will miss those Singaporeans for their message of support and she is very happy to be a part of a big family with all those she has been serving for 14 years in politics.
