S’pore Fresh Grad 1st Time Voting Thoughts
The year 2020 so far is being gazed by a lot of crazy news and indeed a disruptive year with the Covid-19, highest retrenchment record, and with the increasing rate of Dengue fever cases.
As the voting day is coming close by the day, fresh graduates who will be casting their vote for the first time will experience a totally different way of how the previous polling day due to the current pandemic and new set of safety measurement system.
According to some interviews on new 1st-time voters from local news, some mentioned that they don’t even know who is their Member of Parliament (MP) as they never really paid any attention to the country’s politics in his teenage years time. While another mentioned that she is only aware of all this after following the local news regarding the heats from campaigning news and newly released polling dates which are on July 10.
These new generations of 1st-time voter also mentioned that they are hoping that with the elected candidates, the future of the economy and support on making more jobs and securing their new landing job is quite important as currently, some mentioned that they have to go roughly 150 job applications to employers which only end up on one interview with a recruiter.
