We know that lot of Singaporean likes to go to Thailand for a short trip. Well this is special note for those of you who are travelling to Bangkok this year end, then you need to take note of the climate change as the temperature are set to go down.
For your information, Bangkok’s current temperature is between 32 and 33 degrees Celsius (°C) but as according to the Thai Meteorological Department, weather are predicts to change and it will likely to dip between 15°C and 17°C.
If you’re heading more north, areas like Chiang Rai are expected to drop to about 7°C to 9°C, while Chiang Mai will be between 12°C and 14°C. December and January are typically the coldest months of the year for northern Thailand. But for this year, the north and northeastern states’ temperature will go down by one or two degrees Celsius. Really got Christmas feel eh …
So here is the recap of the weather predictions by the Weatherman as follows:
- The North: Chiang Rai, 7-9 degrees Celsius; Nan, 7-9 degrees Celsius; Chiang Mai, 12.14 degrees Celsius.
- The Northeast: Sakhon Nakhon, 7-9 C; Nakhon Phanom, 7-9 C; Nakhon Ratchasima, 13-15 C.
- Central Region: Kanchanaburi, 13-15 C; Nakhon Sawan, 14-16 C and Suphan Buri, 16-18 C.
- Eastern Region: Sa Kaew, 14-16 C; and Chon Buri, 16-18 C.
- Southern Region: Prachuap Khiri Khan, 17-19 C and Phuket, 20-22 C.
- Bangkok: 15-17 C.
Wondering why sudden climate change. The reason for the unexpected cool weather is due to the cold fronts coming from China The cold temperature is expected to last until February 2020, with the coldest period being between late December and mid-January.
So take this as a precaution and if you’re heading to our north neighbour countries for holiday this year end, make sure you be prepared with your winter wear!
