Why?
The iPhone sales is not doing that well and the sales are down by 15% last quarter compared to the quarter from a year ago. One of the factors that affected iPhone sales included foreign exchange, which made prices of the iPhone really expensive outside of the US.
In order to counter this, Tim Cook, Apple CEO said (in an interview with Reuters) that the company is re-considering its prices outside of the US and might lowering the price for iPhone outside US. This move is an attempt to increase their weak sales of the iPhone, particularly in overseas markets such as China.
Since the prices of iPhones are generally set in US Dollars, the strengthening of said currency against others in recent times also meant that the prices of new iPhones rose exponentially in certain regions especially in emerging markets
At this moment, Apple did not say in which countries it would adjust iPhone prices and but the resellers in China already began cutting iPhone prices earlier this month after Apple lowered its sales forecast for the quarter ended in December. Talk about efficiency!!!
Meanwhile, we also check through Apple Singapore’s official website showed of course nothing has changed yet la. The prices of iPhone in Malaysia still remained the same at the moment.
So word of advice …. Do NOT rush out to the nearest Apple dealers just yet and wait for the announcements!
