If you’re one of those people who are heading downtown to celebrate the New Year eve than this news would be a good news for you cause you can now get home safely via public transport
Why? This is because the transport operator SBS Transit has just announced changes in operational hours for train and selected bus services on 31 December 2018.
The below notice posted on the company’s website outlined the extended operating hours of its bus and train services on New Year’s Eve which falls on next Monday.
SBS Transit will be extending the operational hours of the North East Line (NEL) and the Downtown Line (DTL) as well as 26 selected bus services on New Year’s eve, 31 December 2018. This is to enable merry-makers attending countdown celebrations to get home on public transport. It will also be making changes to the evening schedules of 12 bus services operating between the city/business district and the heartlands.
The North East Line (NEL) and the Downtown Line (DTL) will extend services by two hours while the Sengkang and Punggol LRTs will also run until after the last NEL train arrives at Sengkang and Punggol, as per reported by the Channel News Asia.
Aside from that. The news daily also quoted train and bus operator SMRT as stating that train services on the East-West Line, North-South Line, Circle Line as well as the Bukit Panjang LRT will also be extended while the operating hours of at least 26 SBS Transit bus services and 13 SMRT bus services will also be extended to complement the train services.
Make sure you take note of the timing of the public transport. If not then you would need to walk home.
