Golden Age of Black and White Retro Photobooth Available at Golden Mile Tower
If you happen to love old movie, you will know that there are some vintage photobooth scene started to get popular in United States back in the 80s movie, now there is one actually located in Golden Mile Tower, The Projector which is a refurbished Model 21 vintage photo booth which were imported all the way from U.S to Singapore by Fotoautomat Singapore and it was build in the 1980s.
This machine which operate in a manual camera system with a fixed focal length and it is also an analogue photochemical booth which exposes each photo directly onto filmstrip, frame by frame and it developed the photos with a process called dip and dunk. This four minutes long process involves the mechanical arm guiding the filmstrip through a series of chemical washes inside the machine like a mini darkroom.
UNlike the more hi-tech neoprint or purikura photo booth, you can’t see the preview of the shot and you will be able to see the outcome when the developed film pop out via the collection slot. It will cost you $4 per session and this photo booth only accepts payments in $1 coins both old and new.
How to
- Prepare four S$1 coins with you (or more if you wish to go on a photo frenzy).
- Select your background colour of choice. Since the final photo is going to be in black and white, we are not sure how important this step is.
- Adjust the seat to a height whereby you are at eye level with the camera.
- Wait for the green light near the camera and insert four S$1 coins.
- Get ready upon seeing a red light as it signals that your photo is about to be taken.
- The green light and coin counter light will switch off during the photo taking sessions. Do not insert any coins during this time.
- Collect your finished photo strip from the collection slot after it has been printed. The process takes four minutes.
- Wait for the green light and coin counter light to return before starting a new session by adding more coins.
