1-17 1–31 August 2025: Tiong Bahru Bakery x Lau Pa Sat SG60 Pastry Collection: Nostalgic Local-Inspired Treats Promotion

Singapore’s vibrant culinary landscape continues to be a source of pride for locals and fascination for visitors, and this year, it becomes the delicious centrepiece of a truly unique collaboration. In celebration of Singapore’s 60th birthday — SG60 — Tiong Bahru Bakery (TBB) has joined hands with the beloved heritage hawker icon Lau Pa Sat to present a collection of limited-time pastries that brilliantly fuse French baking artistry with Singapore’s local food culture.

Running from 1 to 31 August 2025, this one-of-a-kind SG60 pastry promotion will be available at all TBB outlets across the island. For fans of nostalgic flavours and creative culinary crossovers, this is more than just another bakery launch. It’s a beautifully layered homage to Singapore’s food heritage — executed with precision, flair, and, above all, heart.

So, why should people make time for this promotion? Because it captures what so many in Singapore hold dear — a deep love for food, culture, and innovation. Read on as this article uncovers the delicious reasons this campaign should not be missed.

Celebrating Singapore’s Heritage with a Pastry Twist

There’s a certain genius in combining the comforting familiarity of local hawker favourites with the finesse of French baking. What makes this collaboration so distinctive is that it doesn’t merely replicate traditional flavours — it reinvents them, often in the most surprising formats.

Take, for instance, the Satay Beef Croissant. Imagine golden, laminated pastry encasing tender beef slow-cooked in a smoky satay sauce, with crunchy pickled vegetables tucked in for balance. The satay sauce itself is a product of deep R&D work between TBB and the legendary hawker centre Lau Pa Sat, drawing inspiration from the grilled skewers famously sold at Boon Tat Street’s Satay Street.

For those leaning more toward sweet indulgence, the Satay White Chocolate Kouign Amann brings an entirely different flavour profile to the table. A caramelised, flaky swirl is lightly brushed with satay glaze and dotted with white chocolate chips. The result is nutty, buttery, and unexpectedly addictive — a combination that sounds eccentric on paper but delivers delightfully on the palate.

A Pastry-Lover’s Ode to Nasi Lemak and Milo

The innovation continues with TBB’s bold reinvention of breakfast classics. The Nasi Sambal Danish is, without a doubt, a pastry that deserves attention. It’s not just an inspired snack — it’s practically a full breakfast wrapped in layers of pastry. Stuffed with coconut-infused rice, mellow mornay sauce, topped with a soft egg, sambal, and accompanied by crispy ikan bilis, this is a multi-sensory experience crafted for the nostalgic foodie.

Then there’s the treat that every Milo-lover has probably been waiting for — the Milo Dinosaur Shio Pan. A soft and chewy bun that is not only filled with Milo cream but also generously dusted with Milo powder for that extra punch of chocolate malt.

Equally intriguing is the Teh C Shio Pan, an ode to the national favourite drink. TBB captures the familiar milky tea flavour in a smooth and buttery bun, topped with a light swirl of cream for added texture and visual flair.

These Shio Pan buns, with their softer bite and creamy fillings, offer a more casual alternative to the croissants and danishes — perfect for a midday snack or a light breakfast. But do take note, they’re available only at selected TBB locations: Centrepoint, Foothills (Fort Canning), Plaza Singapura, Raffles City, and VivoCity.

SG60 Sip & Stroll – Explore the City and Earn

This SG60 collaboration goes beyond the bakery counter. TBB and their sister brand Common Man Coffee Roasters are also launching the SG60 Sip & Stroll, a uniquely Singaporean café-hopping trail that allows customers to explore the island in style — and get rewarded along the way.

Here’s how it works: pick up a specially designed SG60 map at any participating outlet. With each visit to five different locations near iconic heritage landmarks, customers collect stamps on the map. Once the map is filled, it can be redeemed for vouchers worth a generous $60.

Even better, with every visit and a minimum spend of just $6, visitors will also enjoy a free cup of coffee. It’s a refreshing nod to the nostalgic days of physical loyalty cards — but with a modern café culture twist.

What’s especially fun about the Sip & Stroll is that it turns food discovery into an adventure. It encourages people to get out and explore the city, rediscover landmarks, and experience different locations while enjoying handcrafted drinks and bakes along the way. It’s a wholesome activity ideal for families, couples, or groups of friends who love a bit of exploration with their treats.

Why It’s Worth Making the Trip

In an age where food promotions often blend into one another, TBB x Lau Pa Sat’s SG60 collection stands out as more than a gimmick. It’s a genuine celebration of Singapore’s identity, brought to life in a form that’s engaging, creative, and delicious.

These aren’t just new menu items — they’re stories told in pastry form. The satay croissant tells of late-night street food adventures. The nasi lemak danish recalls breakfast at a kopitiam with parents or grandparents. The Milo and Teh C buns? A throwback to school recess and kopitiam breaks.

This is also a showcase of how local food culture continues to evolve. In an era where global flavours dominate many menus, this SG60 collection proudly reclaims and reinterprets Singaporean flavours, reminding everyone just how rich and adaptable their food heritage truly is.

TBB has long been a darling of the café scene in Singapore, known for balancing artisanal baking techniques with a flair for reinvention. And Lau Pa Sat, with its storied history and cultural importance, lends authenticity and heart to the entire campaign. It’s the kind of collaboration that respects the past while looking firmly towards the future.
