Classical music lovers in Singapore have something special to look forward to in January 2027. Internationally acclaimed violinist Lu Siqing will take to the stage for an evening of beautiful classical music, accompanied by pianist Wang Chao, at SOTA Concert Hall. Featuring celebrated compositions by Mozart and Beethoven, alongside the much-loved Chinese classic The Butterfly Lovers, this recital promises an enjoyable musical experience for anyone who appreciates the beauty of live instrumental performances.

Even better, SAFRA members can enjoy 15% off tickets through a special promotion running until 27 December 2026. If they have been looking for an opportunity to experience a live classical music recital without paying the full ticket price, this could be a worthwhile deal to consider.

With the performance scheduled for 8 January 2027 at 7.30pm, music enthusiasts have time to plan their evening, check the ticketing arrangements and make the most of the available savings before the promotion ends.

Enjoy an Evening of Classical Music with Lu Siqing

One of the highlights of this upcoming recital is Lu Siqing, an internationally recognised violinist whose achievements have earned him a place among the notable performers in the classical music world. He was the first Asian violinist to win first prize at the prestigious International Paganini Violin Competition, a significant milestone that helped bring wider international attention to his talent.

For audiences, this recital offers an opportunity to experience his musical interpretation and violin playing in a live concert setting. Listening to a skilled violinist perform in person can be very different from playing classical recordings at home. The sound of the instrument, the nuances of each musical phrase and the interaction between the performers can make the experience especially memorable.

Whether they regularly attend classical concerts or are simply curious about the genre, audiences can look forward to an evening that celebrates musical craftsmanship and expressive performance.

The recital also features pianist Wang Chao, who will accompany Lu Siqing throughout the programme. Piano accompaniment is an important part of a violin recital, providing musical depth, rhythm and harmony while allowing the violin to take centre stage. When the two instruments work together, the result can be a rich and engaging listening experience.

Mozart and Beethoven: Classical Music That Stands the Test of Time

The programme includes works by Mozart and Beethoven, two composers whose music continues to be performed and appreciated around the world.

Mozart’s compositions are often admired for their elegance, melodic beauty and balance. His music can sound graceful and light-hearted in one moment, then become deeply expressive in another. For listeners who enjoy music that combines technical skill with memorable melodies, his works are an excellent introduction to the classical repertoire.

Beethoven, meanwhile, is celebrated for his emotional intensity, powerful musical ideas and distinctive compositions. His works often explore contrasting moods, creating a sense of drama and movement that can hold an audience’s attention.

Hearing music by these two composers in the same recital gives audiences an opportunity to appreciate different musical personalities within the classical tradition. Rather than simply listening to familiar recordings, concertgoers can experience how the performers bring their own interpretations to the music.

For those who have always wanted to attend a classical music concert but have not yet found the right occasion, this event could be a good place to start.

Experience the Timeless Beauty of The Butterfly Lovers

Another highlight is The Butterfly Lovers, one of the best-known works in Chinese musical culture. Inspired by a traditional love story, the composition is associated with themes of love, longing and tragedy.

Its expressive melodies and emotional storytelling have helped it become a beloved piece among listeners across generations. The music draws audiences into the feelings behind the story, making it accessible even to those who may not have extensive knowledge of classical music.

The inclusion of The Butterfly Lovers also gives the recital an interesting cultural dimension. Alongside works by Mozart and Beethoven, this Chinese classic offers a different musical perspective and an opportunity to appreciate how instrumental music can communicate emotion across cultural boundaries.

For audiences who enjoy both Western classical music and Chinese musical traditions, this combination may be one of the strongest reasons to attend.

Even those who are unfamiliar with the full story can appreciate the melody, expressive violin playing and emotional atmosphere. Music does not always require words to communicate a powerful message, and this composition is a wonderful example of that quality.

SAFRA Members Can Enjoy 15% Off Tickets

The most attractive part of this offer for eligible concertgoers is the 15% ticket discount for SAFRA members.

Live performances can be a meaningful way to spend an evening, but ticket prices are always worth considering when planning entertainment. A discount helps reduce the cost and makes it easier to fit a cultural outing into the household entertainment budget.

For example, if an eligible ticket normally costs $100, a 15% discount would reduce the price to $85, saving $15. If the regular ticket price is $80, the discounted price would be $68, representing a saving of $12. These figures are illustrations only; actual ticket prices and the final amount payable will depend on the available ticket categories and the promotion’s terms and conditions.

SAFRA members should check the official promotion page to confirm how the discount can be redeemed, which ticket categories qualify and whether any additional conditions apply.

The promotion ends on 27 December 2026, so those interested should avoid leaving their arrangements until the last minute. Checking the terms early will also help them understand the booking process and any requirements before purchasing tickets.

For eligible members who already enjoy classical music, the offer provides a practical reason to plan a concert outing. Those who are new to live recitals may also find the discount helpful when deciding whether to give the experience a try.

A Lovely Evening Out for Couples, Friends and Music Enthusiasts

A classical music recital can be a refreshing alternative to the usual dinner, shopping or movie plans. Instead of rushing through a busy evening, concertgoers can settle into their seats and enjoy a programme focused on musical expression.

Couples may consider the recital for a cultured date night, while friends can make it an opportunity to share an interest in music. It may also appeal to families with older children who are interested in learning more about classical instruments and live performances.

For people who enjoy discovering talented performers, Lu Siqing’s international recognition adds another reason to consider attending. Meanwhile, the combination of Mozart, Beethoven and The Butterfly Lovers offers variety within a single programme, bringing together familiar classical traditions and a much-loved Chinese musical work.

SOTA Concert Hall provides the setting for this musical evening in Singapore. Before travelling, visitors should check the official event and ticketing information for the latest venue access arrangements, seating details and any other practical information relevant to their visit.

It is also sensible to plan the journey in advance, particularly for those travelling from outside the city centre. Arriving early can make the evening more relaxed and leave enough time to find the venue and settle in before the performance begins.

Why They Should Not Miss This Promotion

There are several reasons to consider this recital before the SAFRA promotion expires. First, it offers the opportunity to hear an internationally acclaimed violinist perform live. Second, the programme brings together music by Mozart and Beethoven with the emotionally rich The Butterfly Lovers. Finally, the 15% discount gives eligible SAFRA members a chance to save on their tickets.

The timing also makes this an appealing way to begin the new year. Rather than spending January on the same familiar activities, concertgoers can welcome 2027 with an evening devoted to music, culture and artistic performance.

However, the promotional period ends on 27 December 2026, while the concert takes place on 8 January 2027. Anyone interested should check the official details, confirm the applicable ticket conditions and complete their purchase within the promotion period.

As ticket availability, pricing and redemption requirements may vary, it is best to rely on the official SAFRA page for the latest information rather than assume that every ticket category qualifies.

Overall, Lu Siqing’s violin recital is worth considering for anyone who appreciates classical music, enjoys discovering accomplished performers or simply wants to plan a different kind of evening out. With Wang Chao accompanying him on piano and a programme spanning Western classical masterpieces and a celebrated Chinese musical classic, the performance offers a compelling reason to make time for live music.

SAFRA members can make the occasion even more attractive by taking advantage of the 15% ticket discount before it ends on 27 December 2026.
