Netflix Singapore is having their Price Hike. TV streaming service Netflix will be increasing their monthly fees in the new year and many more.
This comes after the Singapore government announced that it will be introducing goods and services tax (GST) on e-commerce and imported digital services online during Budget 2018.
Few dollars more
Companies affected include streaming services such as Netflix and Spotify as well as Apple, Google and Microsoft which offers services and software with online subscription fees.
Netflix Singapore is one of such services that has reacted to the news and will be passing the charges to consumers here between $1 and $3 more per month.
Here’s the breakdown on the new monthly fees users will need to pay from 9 January onwards:
- Basic (1 screen) – S$11.98 per month (was S$10.98)
- Standard (HD with 2 screens) – S$15.98 per month (was S$13.98)
- Premium (HD & Ultra HD with 4 screens) – $19.98 per month (was $16.98)
The price hike likely won’t stop most users from subscribing to Netflix, especially if they are sharing the account with friends and family, which is less than a dollar increase per screen on the Premium plan.
So now you know, in case you noticed the price hike on your credit card in the new year and wondered what happened.
