Christmas is a wonderful time of the year to enjoy festive celebrations, spend quality time with loved ones and experience something a little different from the usual shopping trips and Christmas dinners. If you are looking for an enjoyable festive activity in Singapore, here is a lovely opportunity to catch one of the world’s most beloved Christmas ballet productions without paying the full ticket price.

Singapore Ballet Limited is bringing The Nutcracker to Esplanade Theatre from 9 to 13 December 2026, giving audiences the chance to experience a magical Christmas performance filled with beautiful dancing, enchanting music and a timeless story. Even better, SAFRA members can enjoy an exclusive 20% discount on regular-priced tickets, making this a worthwhile promotion to consider when planning festive activities with family and friends.

Whether you are a long-time ballet enthusiast, someone who enjoys live theatre performances or a parent looking for a memorable experience for the children, The Nutcracker offers something special for audiences of different ages.

Experience the Magic of The Nutcracker This Christmas

The Nutcracker is one of the most recognisable ballet productions associated with Christmas. Its magical storytelling, memorable characters and beautiful musical arrangements have made it a festive favourite for generations.

The story follows a young girl named Clara, who receives a special Nutcracker doll during a Christmas celebration. What begins as an ordinary festive evening soon turns into an extraordinary adventure when the doll magically comes to life and transforms into a handsome prince.

Clara is then taken on an exciting journey involving a thrilling battle against the Mouse King. After their adventure, they travel through the beautiful Land of Snow before arriving at the spectacular Kingdom of Sweets.

Along the way, audiences can look forward to a wonderful combination of ballet dancing, imaginative storytelling and magical scenes that bring this classic Christmas tale to life.

One of the reasons The Nutcracker continues to attract audiences year after year is its ability to create a festive atmosphere through dance and music rather than relying on complicated storytelling. The production is particularly enjoyable for families introducing younger children to the performing arts, while experienced ballet fans can appreciate the dancers’ technique, movements and artistic expression.

SAFRA Members Enjoy 20% Off Regular-Priced Tickets

The best part of this promotion is that SAFRA members can enjoy 20% off regular-priced tickets for The Nutcracker.

Instead of paying the usual admission prices, eligible members can save on selected ticket categories by entering the promotional code N20mgBWR during the booking process.

Here is a breakdown of the discounted ticket prices:

Ticket Category	Usual Price	SAFRA Member Price
VIP	$110	$88
Category 1	$95	$76
Category 2	$75	$60
Category 3	$55	$44

With discounted prices starting from just $44 per ticket, this is a good opportunity for SAFRA members to enjoy a live Christmas ballet at a lower cost.

For those planning to attend with their families, the savings can become more noticeable when purchasing several tickets together. For example, booking four Category 3 tickets at the discounted rate would cost $176 instead of the usual $220, giving a total saving of $44 before applicable booking fees.

Of course, the best seats may be snapped up earlier, particularly for popular performance dates and weekend sessions. Those who have a preferred seating category or specific date in mind should consider booking ahead rather than waiting until the last minute.

A Festive Activity for Families, Couples and Friends

Not every Christmas outing needs to involve visiting shopping malls, buying presents or having a meal at a restaurant. Watching a live ballet performance can be a refreshing alternative, especially for those who want to enjoy something memorable during the festive season.

For families, The Nutcracker can be a wonderful introduction to ballet and theatre. Children can follow Clara’s adventure, discover the magical characters and enjoy the colourful world created through the performance.

Parents may also appreciate the opportunity to introduce their children to the performing arts in an entertaining setting. Rather than simply watching a film or spending another afternoon indoors, attending a live production offers a different experience that audiences can share together.

Couples can also consider making this part of their Christmas date. A theatre performance provides a pleasant opportunity to dress up, enjoy an evening out and celebrate the festive season with something more memorable.

For groups of friends, it can be a fun activity to include in their December gathering plans. Those who enjoy music, dance and cultural performances may find this production particularly appealing.

Even if someone has never watched a ballet before, The Nutcracker is a good starting point because its familiar Christmas setting and easy-to-follow storyline make it approachable for first-time audiences.

Enjoy the Performance at Esplanade Theatre

The production will take place at Esplanade Theatre, one of Singapore’s best-known performing arts venues.

Located at the Esplanade along Marina Bay, the venue provides a convenient setting for a festive day or evening out. Visitors can make their theatre trip part of a larger outing by exploring the surrounding Marina Bay area before or after the performance.

Depending on the chosen showtime, visitors may also wish to arrange dinner, enjoy a relaxing walk around the waterfront or explore nearby attractions.

It is worth arriving early to avoid rushing before the performance begins. This also gives visitors sufficient time to locate their seats, settle down and enjoy the atmosphere.

Do remember to check the selected performance date and showtime carefully when booking, as the event runs across several days and individual sessions may have different seat availability.
