SPRMRKT Singapore is having their A Cultural And Culinary Extravaganza. Come 8 and 9 March, Embassy, staffed by an all-female team, celebrates the woman’s rightful place in the kitchen with a seven-course gastronomic dinner menu and many more.
In the spirit of International Women’s Day and testament to the transformative societal impact that Khmer gastronomy brings to the table, SPRMRKT Cambodia shines a light on Embassy Restaurant and its two female head chefs, Kimsan Sok and Kimsan Pol, who have both been credited for reviving Khmer gastronomy and in turn, Khmer culture. Imbued with a tenacity and passion for the culinary arts – each dish is crafted with only the freshest seasonal produce and evokes emotions remi niscent of the Cambodian heritage. The rise to prominence of the “the Kimsan twins”—as they are affectionately known— are all the more impressive given their status as women in a staunchly male-dominated culinary world.
Featuring exquisitely prepared delights including steamed scallops with locally- grown La Plantation Kampot green pepper corn, mushrooms and Roselle flower sauce; grilled duck on crispy IBIS Rice – Organic Wildlife Friendly Rice brown rice served with a lemongrass and tumeric green kako sauce; and a tropical treat of “Kromaothorng” – a crispy green glutinous rice flack, stuffing in young coconut flesh and banana, passion fruit and caramel ice-cream that’s made toothsome with Sovannak Granulated Palm Sugar .
