National Gallery Singapore is having their Cheyenne Alexandria Phillips’ ekphrastic response for Art Plus Live. Cheyenne Alexandria Phillips’ ekphrastic response for Art + Live this weekend is made in conjunction with the special exhibition, Suddenly Turning Visible: Art and Architecture in Southeast Asia (1969-1989).
Suddenly Turning Visible follows the story of three art galleries in the Global South, namely the Alpha Gallery in Singapore, the Cultural Center of the Philippines (or CCP) and the Bhirasri Institute of Modern Art (or BIMA). It highlights how these cities, together with their architects and artists started developing strong identities for themselves, exploring the different ways they decided to depict their perceptions of the world.According to Cheyenne, “This exhibition explores how artists and architects play important roles in shaping their future. It could be through creating a thought-provoking sculpture or building a common space for open discussion to occur.” Have you viewed this exhibition? What are your thoughts on how artists and architects inspire each other?Click here to learn about this weekend’s online programme: https://bit.ly/2Gn4znmHear more about her responses to the exhibition on Saturday and Sunday, 2.30pm, right here on Facebook!
