Raylite Optical founder, Jimmy, first started out in an ophthalmic lens factory in 1971, where he honed his skills in the art of lens glazing. He went on to set up his own lens workshop from 1976 to 1980 to glaze and deliver lenses to retail stores and eyewear suppliers across the island. After gaining a deeper understanding of the optical supply chain, Jimmy decided to open his first retail store at Bedok Central in 1980, as he hoped to make premium eyewear accessible to the general public. 
The Raylite journey began in 1985 when Jimmy was determined to open a fully-equipped optical practice with a strong emphasis on quality eyewear and customer service. Deeply passionate about eyewear, Jimmy would embark on trips to Italy, the US and Japan to source unique eyepieces to import to the shores of Singapore. He has always been excited to introduce both renowned and indie eyewear frames to his customers.
