A Star Was Born.
Every cake has a story to tell. Most ardent fans of our signature Gula Melaka Pandan cake will remember that this scrumptious cake was first introduced in 2014 to celebrate our nation’s 49th birthday.
What started out as a fun idea to make a cake with locally-inspired flavours had resulted in the creation of this all-time favourite. One of our bakers got creative with local ingredients and did many rounds of experimenting and tweaking of recipes, putting his skills to the test. At last, the final result, which we couldn’t be more proud of, was a fragrant pandan infused butter cake, slathered with luscious Gula Melaka and topped with desiccated coconut.
It got some people a little baffled and surprised at first as they were expecting a chiffon cake, but they grew to love it eventually. This no-frills cake, made with the most humble ingredients, continued to win the hearts of many customers. Just a few months after its debut, this seasonal special made it to the list of mainstays after countless requests by our regulars to bring it back. Today, the cake is now version 3.0 and it’s the go-to cake for birthdays, just-need-a-cake day or for any other occasion.
To commemorate our 10th anniversary, we have launched a special edition of the Gula Melaka Pandan cake and a new Mao Shan Wang durian cheesecake at our stores. It’s our little way of saying thank you for the ten great years!
