Founded in 1954 by egg tart Master Au Yeung’s uncle, Tai Cheong Bakery has an illustrious history. Au Yeung revolutionized the traditional egg tart by introducing a cookie crust, a technique he perfected from his prior experience in a hotel baking cakes. Tai Cheong Bakery rapidly gained popularity, becoming a favorite among both locals and visitors. The brand reached its pinnacle of fame when Chris Patten, then governor of Hong Kong, became a frequent patron of the original Lyndhurst Street outlet. The legacy of Tai Cheong continues to enchant taste buds to this day.

In Singapore, Tai Cheong Bakery made its debut in collaboration with Food People Pte Ltd and Tai Cheong Bakery Hong Kong. Starting as pop-up stores in Takashimaya in March and May 2016, they later established their first permanent store in Takashimaya basement in July 2016. Following this success, Tai Cheong Bakery expanded its presence to Holland Village with a Cha Chaan Tang in November 2016.
