Did you know Singapore has a rich 700-year history?
Throughout this time, different groups and communities arrived on our shores and contributed to the evolution of our island home.
To commemorate the Singapore Bicentennial, we have prepared a line-up of activities in various neighbourhoods.
HERE ARE 5 EVENTS YOU WOULDN’T WANT TO MISS:
1. The Peranakan Festival | 27 Apr
Celebrate the unique Peranakan Culture in Singapore through a myriad of Peranakan-inspired activities and performances! Check out the Peranakan Marketplace and Creative Workshops such as Fabric Block Printing, Haiku Writing and Linocut Printing.
2. Our Stories of Buona Vista and Queenstown | 25 May
Pop by the family carnival for a fun day of games and food, and appreciate the history of Buona Vista and Queenstown through a showcase of interesting facts about iconic landmarks in the area, such as the Red Bricks House!
3. Trace Your Heritage @ Whampoa | 25 May
Travel back in time with the Heritage Carnival at Kallang CC. Immerse in the nostalgia of games and food from the good old days. Take snaps of various landmarks in Whampoa and stand to win prizes in the Photography Competition!
4. Our Heritage, Our History | 16 Jun
Explore the cultural side of River Valley on this heritage trail where you will learn more about historical religious buildings such as the Chettairs Temple. A hawker feast of popular traditional food awaits you at the end!
5. Remembering Rail Corridor | 22 Jun
Go on a guided learning tour of The Rail Corridor, a former railway line used to transport goods from Singapore to Malaysia in the early 20th century. Also, participate in the traditional games and chill at the F&B stalls among the flora and fauna.
