NParks Singapore is having their Festival of Biodiversity 2022. DidYouKnow there are over 320 species of butterflies and around 130 species of bees in Singapore, found in our parks, streetscapes and more.
These small creatures are essential to Singapore’s ecosystem, helping native plants to reproduce and maintain their populations. To enhance the resilience of our forest ecosystem, we adopt a targeted approach towards conserving these native pollinators.
For example, as part of our habitat restoration and rewilding efforts, native species are planted in our parks and streetscapes to strengthen ecological connectivity. This also provides bees and butterflies with valuable feeding grounds! To increase awareness and appreciation for these pollinators, we also work with the community and other stakeholders on research and conservation efforts.
Want do your bit for our native biodiversity? Join us for the Nationwide BioBlitz cum Habitat Enhancement 2022, which involves conducting biodiversity surveys or planting biodiversity-attracting trees and shrubs in various parks and gardens across Singapore.
