DR RICHARD PEGG Singapore is having their DIRECTOR AND CURATOR OF ASIAN ART FOR THE MACLEAN COLLECTION with PAssion. This talk considers a curator’s journey from literature to art history to the cartographic history of East Asia. Discover the MacLean Collection, a private Asian art museum and separate map library, located just north of Chicago. Currently on display in “Mapping the World: Perspectives from Asian Cartography” at the National Library, Singapore are a number of East Asian maps from the MacLean Collection. Join curator Dr Richard Pegg as he examines these maps, unpacks their meanings and explores their cartographic implications.
About the Speaker
Dr Richard A. Pegg is currently Director and Curator of Asian Art for the MacLean Collection, an Asian art museum and separate map library located north of Chicago, U.S. Dr Pegg has a BA and MA in East Asian Literature from The George Washington University and a PhD in East Asian Art History from Columbia University. He has written and lectured widely on the visual, literary, cartographic and martial arts traditions of East Asia.
