Looking for a small freebie to brighten up your October while picking up your daily newspaper? SPC Singapore has an interesting little giveaway running throughout the month, and it is especially worth checking out if you regularly buy newspapers from the petrol station.
From 1 to 31 October 2026, customers can receive an exclusive gift when they purchase a copy of Shin Min Daily News together with any other SPH Media newspaper at participating SPC stations. The giveaway is split into two periods, so the free gift you receive depends on when you make your purchase.
For the first half of the month, from 1 to 15 October, customers can receive a Card Magnifier. Then, from 16 to 31 October, the giveaway changes to a Tumbler.
It is a straightforward promotion, but sometimes the simplest offers can be the easiest ones to enjoy. If buying newspapers is already part of your routine, this is an opportunity to get something extra without making a separate purchase just for the free gift.
A useful freebie for newspaper shoppers
The first gift available during the promotion is the Card Magnifier, from 1 to 15 October. Its slim card-style design makes it a practical item to keep in a wallet, bag, drawer or even beside your reading materials.
For people who occasionally need a little help reading smaller print, checking labels or looking at fine details, a compact magnifier can come in handy. It is also much easier to carry around than a traditional magnifying glass.
If you are planning to buy your newspapers during the first half of October, it may be worth heading to an SPC station sooner rather than later so you have a chance to receive this gift while stocks last.
The second half brings a Tumbler
If the Card Magnifier is not quite what you are looking for, there is another reason to wait until the second half of the month.
From 16 to 31 October 2026, the giveaway changes to a Tumbler.
A tumbler is the sort of everyday item that can be useful at home, in the office or when you are out and about. Whether you use it for water, coffee or another favourite drink, it is a practical freebie that can easily become part of your daily routine.
This also means that newspaper shoppers have two different opportunities during October. Those who purchase during the first half can look out for the Card Magnifier, while those shopping during the second half can go for the Tumbler.
How does the SPC giveaway work?
The requirement is quite simple. Customers need to purchase a copy of Shin Min Daily News together with any other SPH Media newspaper.
So, if you are already planning to pick up Shin Min Daily News, remember that you need to purchase another qualifying SPH Media newspaper as part of the promotion to receive the exclusive gift.
The promotion is scheduled to run from 1 to 31 October 2026, giving newspaper readers plenty of opportunities to take part. However, there is an important point to remember: the gifts are available while stocks last.
That means the stated promotion period does not necessarily guarantee that every SPC station will still have the promotional gift available towards the end of the month. If you particularly want the Card Magnifier or Tumbler, it is better not to leave your purchase until the last possible day.
Why should you go for this deal?
One of the biggest reasons to consider this promotion is that it does not require you to buy something completely unrelated just to qualify for a freebie. The offer is built around a newspaper purchase, making it particularly suitable for regular newspaper readers.
If you already purchase Shin Min Daily News and another SPH Media newspaper, the promotion gives you an opportunity to receive an additional item as part of that purchase. In other words, you can continue with something you were already going to buy while potentially taking home a useful gift.
The two-stage format also gives shoppers a little flexibility. If you prefer the Card Magnifier, the first half of October is the period to look out for. If you would rather have a Tumbler, you can consider visiting an SPC station from 16 October onwards.
It could also be a convenient promotion for family members. If someone in your household regularly picks up newspapers on the way to work, during a petrol stop or while running errands, this is an easy deal to keep in mind.
Remember that stocks are limited
As with many promotional giveaways, availability is an important consideration.
SPC Singapore states that the gifts are available while stocks last, so there may be differences in availability between stations. The promotion also changes halfway through the month, with the Card Magnifier offered from 1 to 15 October and the Tumbler from 16 to 31 October.
For that reason, it is a good idea to check at your nearest SPC station when making your newspaper purchase. If you have your heart set on one particular gift, going earlier during the relevant promotional period may give you a better chance of getting it.
A simple October deal worth remembering
Not every good bargain has to involve a huge discount or an expensive purchase. Sometimes a useful free item with something you already buy can be enough to make a regular shopping trip a little more worthwhile.
SPC Singapore’s October Exclusive Giveaway is one of those straightforward promotions. Buy Shin Min Daily News together with any other SPH Media newspaper, and you can receive an exclusive gift during the promotional period, subject to availability.
The first gift is the Card Magnifier, available from 1 to 15 October 2026, while the Tumbler takes over from 16 to 31 October 2026.
So, if newspapers are already part of your routine, keep this SPC promotion in mind the next time you stop by. There is no need to make a special trip solely for the freebie if you are already buying your newspapers, and the added gift could make your purchase a little more rewarding.
