\"\" \u00a0It’s the season of COVID-19 and this virus won\u2019t be going away for a while especially now in Singapore where the imported cases are on the getting higher and higher these days.<\/p>\n

Good news is that the tech arm of the Singapore government\u00a0GovTech\u00a0has just created a nifty new app call\u00a0TraceTogether<\/strong>\u00a0that aims to mitigate the spread of the novel coronavirus through community-driven contact tracing.<\/p>\n

If you wish to give it a try, then you can download it on\u00a0App Store<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Google Play<\/a>.<\/p>\n

But How Does it works?<\/h3>\n

According to GovTech, the app makes use of the phone\u2019s\u00a0Bluetooth signals to detect other TraceTogether phones, estimate the distance and duration of these encounters. The\u00a0records are encrypted and stored locally\u00a0on the user\u2019s phone for 21 days which is the estimated maximum incubation period of the virus.<\/p>\n

\"\"If you’re worried about my privacy then you need to be relax. The GovTech claims that data is not shared in any way until when required by the Ministry of Health (MOH) for contact tracing purposes. Only the user can authorise the uploading his\/her TraceTogether data to MOH, after which the data will be deciphered to get mobile numbers of the user\u2019s close contacts within a period of time.<\/p>\n
