\"\"We know that the Covid-19 outbreak is in critical stage and the Chinese government is moving towards the right direction where they have announced on Monday (Feb. 24) that there is an immediate ban in the consumption and trade of wild animals, reported Xinhua News Agency<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n

This ban is taking immediate effect on Feb. 24, 2020. The China\u2019s top legislature has adopted this decision in an effort to safeguard public health where it’s being rumuored that the Covid-19 comes from eating bats.<\/p>\n

The wildlife trading is huge in China where\u00a0 SCMP<\/a> <\/em>has reported that China\u2019s wildlife trade and consumption industry is valued at 520 billion yuan (about S$103 billion) and employs over 14 million people! But due to the outbreak the necessary preventive needs to be taken to ensure that all is in control<\/p>\n

If those who are caught doing the wildlife trading, the penalties will be more severe under this new legislation.\u00a0According to the new ban, enforcement includes shutting down illegal businesses that engage in the trade and consumption of wild animals, reported\u00a0Xinhua<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Wild animals that have ecological, scientific and social value, or are bred in captivity, will be banned from being sold for consumption.<\/p>\n

According to\u00a0Xinhua<\/em><\/a>, the new legislation stipulates that those who hunt, trade, transport or eat wildlife will be given harsher punishment as compared to existing laws and regulations.<\/p>\n
