Singapore has indeed a lot of modern architecture where we can find from shiny skyscrapers or rich historical sites and more. Where some of these landmarks can bring bittersweet memories for sure. Here are some of these iconic landmarks which will bring back great memories.<\/p>\n

Pearl Bank Apartments<\/h5>\n

This is once the tallest residential building in Singapore where the now demolished Pearl Bank apartment was recognizable in the Outram skyline as it sat atop of Pearl’s Hill. And the iconic part about it was the peculiar horseshoe and panoramic view to all its units while the west facing an opening in the circular structure.<\/p>\n

Escape Theme Park<\/h5>\n

The kids from the east will remember the trill of visiting this outdoor theme park that has opened in May 2000 where this park here features a pirate ship, go kart tracts, fairground style rides and more of fun activities here. But later it was removed due to complaints from the public as well as causing accidents to visitors.<\/p>\n

Old National Library Building<\/h5>\n

The Old National Library Building was first opened which it has the red brick exterior and eventually it comes to a closure and knocked down for construction of Fort Canning Tunnel to ease traffic to the city.<\/p>\n

Van Kleef Aquarium<\/h5>\n

This fully conditioned oceanarium name after a Dutch residents opened doors at Fort Canning Park in 1955 and it has attracted a lot of visitors to visits their 6,500 marine creatures here. However, it transformed to World of Aquarium then to Fort Canning Aquarium in a span of five years before closing down in 1996 and torn down in 1998.<\/p>\n

New World Amusement Park<\/h5>\n

There was a huge gateway which is located by Jalan Besar, Kitchener Road, Serangoon Road and Petain Road: New World and it is opened in 1923 with the adult amusement park hosted striptease, boxing matches, opera show and cabaret events. While today, the City Square Mall, City Square Residences and City Green sit on the sit which were once belongs to the park. While the iconic gateway located by Farrer Park MRT station remains the only relic of this New World.<\/p>\n

Old National Theatre<\/h5>\n

The former National Theatre opened in 1963 where it has staged various performances of music titan such as Louis Armstrong, The Bee Gees and Shirley Bassey. And it even held the conferences and National Day rallies until it was closed down due to structural reason.<\/p>\n

Great World Amusement Park<\/h5>\n

The second amusement park was open after New World, there the Great World Amusement Park cater more to middle and low income crowds as the site were initially a Chinese cemetery growing and becomes a major part of the nightlife scene as people flood to the nightclub, cinemas, funfairs and restaurant there.<\/p>\n
