On Wednesday (19 Aug) a group that owns 6 hotels in Singapore announced that 159 were retrenched, Millennium Hotels and Resorts, which owns Copthorne King\u2019s Hotel and Orchard Hotel, called the move \u201cdifficult but inevitable\u201d given the Covid-19 situation isn\u2019t easing up so soon.<\/p>\n<p>The group owns 6 hotels in Singapore:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Copthorne King\u2019s Hotel<\/li>\n<li>Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel<\/li>\n<li>Orchard Hotel<\/li>\n<li>M Hotel<\/li>\n<li>M Social<\/li>\n<li>Studio M Hotel<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-16766\" src=\"https:\/\/sg.everydayonsales.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/56as6da4d.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"1805\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sg.everydayonsales.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/56as6da4d.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/sg.everydayonsales.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/56as6da4d-199x300.jpg 199w, https:\/\/sg.everydayonsales.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/56as6da4d-681x1024.jpg 681w, https:\/\/sg.everydayonsales.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/56as6da4d-768x1155.jpg 768w, https:\/\/sg.everydayonsales.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/56as6da4d-1021x1536.jpg 1021w, https:\/\/sg.everydayonsales.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/56as6da4d-1170x1760.jpg 1170w, https:\/\/sg.everydayonsales.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/56as6da4d-585x880.jpg 585w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>They also own excess of 145 hotels around the world \u2014 almost one-third of them had to close temporarily in Jun, they said. They have also reduced their foreign employee population by 37% from Jan to Mid Aug from 520 to 329.
