The travel<\/a> industry has faced the most serious losses during the Covid-19 pandemic, whereby airlines are also struggling to stay afloat and hotels are being not left spared either.

\nThe Bintan Lagoon Resort which has been sustaining losses over the past two years has filed for bankruptcy in late July. Where the financial difficulties were increased even more rapid due to the Covid-19.\u00a0 The resort which has over 400 rooms, suites and villas and 2 golf course which has been operating for 26 years for now and are finally closing down wth 500 staff will lose their jobs with this closure.<\/p>\n

Bintan Lagoon Resort is the largest integrated resort in Bintan Regency and spans over 300 hectares. The closure has affected the Indonesian economy, particularly in the Riau Islands as it depends largely on Singaporean tourists,\u00a0Jakarta Post<\/em>\u00a0reported. <\/a>Riau Islands attracted 2.59 million international visitors in 2019 alone, with almost half (47 percent) from Singapore.<\/p>\n
