The Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority (AVA) has ordered the recall of this formula milk as they found that it contains harmful bacteria.<\/p>\n

It’s reported that\u00a0the AVA have discovered\u00a0Cronobacter sakazakii bacteria in a batch of\u00a0Dumex Mamil Gold Infant Milk Formula \u2013 Stage 1 (850g). This happened as the AVA was doing their regular routine check and the samples showed the presence of the bacteria in the milk formula in two tins.<\/p>\n

Cronobacter infections are generally rare. However, they can be fatal to newborns as they may cause meningitis or sepsis.<\/p>\n

It’s reported that this batch of milk formula, which believed to be manufactured in Malaysia, expires on\u00a0September 11, 2019 with the batch number\u00a009117R1. This strain of bacteria can live in dry conditions, which makes it able to survive in powdered infant formula.<\/p>\n
