On Aug 3, the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA), the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) and the Ministry of Education (MOE) announced that all travellers arriving in Singapore will have to put on an electronic monitoring device while they are not serving their Stay-Home-Notice (SHN) at designated facilities.<\/p>\n

These new rules apply for \u00a0Singapore Citizens, Permanent Residents, Long-Term Pass holders including Student Pass holders, Work Pass holders, and their dependents. This electronic monitoring device look like a black wristband in which there is also a gateway device that communicates with the device together with an app called StayHome@SG which they are required to install on their phones and activate the monitoring device with a certain period of time upon arrival.<\/p>\n

For those who are serving their SHN, they are required to wear this monitoring device during the entire 14-day period and if anyone attempt to tamper with an electronic device or leave the place of the resident will trigger an alert to the authorities where authorities will conduct a follow-up investigation except they are leaving for his\/her appointment for Covid-19 test.<\/p>\n

This device do not store any personal data and will not have any voice or video recording function, the data is transmitted from the devices to the authorities\u2019 backend system, such as the GPS and 4G\/Bluetooth signal data, is protected by end-to-end certificate-based encryption. Government officials authorized by\u00a0the respective authorities will have access to the data for the purposes of monitoring and investigation.<\/p>\n
