The newly elected Member of Parliament Carrie Tan isn’t your regular politician, who is at her age of 38 now and in which she stood out among the 27 fresh faces in People’s Action Party (PAP) during the recent general election. Carrie was an MP-elect for Nee Soon group constituency, replacing Dr. Lee Bee Wah and she was also one of the 10 new female candidates on the PAP field.<\/p>\n

Carrie mentioned that she joined politics to not just for women but as to speak up on issues such as caregiving support. Where she is a founder of charity group Daughters of Tomorrow which she started in 2013 after ended an abusive relationship while she is now spending time with a divorcee date and his two young children.<\/p>\n

She even mentioned that some seniors in her GRC are also finding it confusing with the idea that their new MP has tattoos behind her ear and another on her wrist which she said that it doesn’t change on who she wishes she is and what she needs to do for the community. In fact, she sees this as a uniqueness that represents one of her strengths.<\/p>\n
She also mentioned that she gets comments all the time about her natural grey hair which first appeared as a streak when she was just 31. While she encourages more women to join politics too as they can speak out on the struggles from the female side of opinions.<\/p>\n
